Weston-Barlow Scores and Standings: Nov. 24

The Weston football team received some bad news Wednedsday as Cromwell's 50-26 victory over Coginchaug left the Trojans will virtually no chance to make the Class S state playoffs.

Cromwell (8-2) clinched the seventh playoff spot in Class S, leaving only one berth open.

Weston is 11th in the division with 830 points and will jump over No. 9 Bloomfield (7-3), who has concluded its season with 960 points, with a victory on Thursday against Barlow (3-6).

But the best the Trojans came hope for is a tie with Rocky Hill for the final playoff spots. Rocky Hill already is at 1,010 points and Weston's maxout is 1,010.

That means the Trojans need Rocky Hill to lose to Northwest Catholic (8-1) and not pick up any of its potential 40 bonus points. Weston then needs to beat Barlow and garner all 30 of its possible bonus points to create a tie.  The Trojans have 10 guaranteed bonus points available and will pick up 10 additional points by beating an opponent one class higher.

Weston also need No. 10 Prince Tech (840 points) to lose to Capital Prep/Classical Magnet (9-0).
