He left with a 7-5 lead, but the Brewers rallied to tie the game 8-8 in the sixth before the Pirates scored a run in the eighth to win 9-8.
Morton finished the year with a 10-10 record and a 3.83 ERA in his fourth season in the major leagues. The 10 victories nearly equaled his win total from the three previous years combined (11-29).

Morton finished with an ERA under four for the first time, bettering his mark of 4.55 in 2009. Last year, he was 2-12 with a 7.57 ERA in 17 starts.
This season, Morton became a mainstay in the Pirates' rotation, making a career-high 28 starts.
He earned a win in his previous outing, allowing just three hits in six scoreless innings of a 5-3 win over the NL West champion Arizona Diamondbacks.
That victory snapped a string of six straight starts without a win, although he pitched well done the stretch, posting a 2.84 ERA in six August outings and a 3.12 ERA in three September starts before Monday.
Morton finished second on the Pirates in wins behind Kevin Correia, who is 12-11. Morton's 171 2/3 innings led the team, just ahead of James MacDonald (171).
