The girls basketball team charged into the second round of the Class L state tournament with a 60-28 rout of Fitch on Tuesday,
Drew Bartro scored 18 points and Brittney Dumas added 16 for the 13th-seeded Falcons, who improved to 15-8 and will play at No. 4 seed Berlin in the second round on Friday.

Barlow jumped out to a 16-7 lead after the first quarter, then extended its advantage to 30-11. The Falcons outscored Fitch (11-10), taking a 48-21 cushion into the final period.
Taylor Auer added 10 points for Barlow while Dumas also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Aunisha Dillon paced No. 20 Fitch with eight points.

The Barlow boys hockey team was blanked by the Milford Coop 5-0 in its regular-season finale Tuesday night at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
Thierry Jean recorded 27 saves for the Falcons, who dropped to 11-9. Milford's Matt White stopped 16 saves for the shutout.
Craig Wargo scored two goals and Will Vitelli, Zach White and T.J. Olsson each added one for Milford, which improved to 12-7.
