After a successful regular season under first-year coach Mike Hvizdo, the boys basketball team has earned a home game in the first round of the Class M state tournament.
The 16th-seeded Trojans (12-8), who are coming off a loss to Notre Dame of Fairfield in the quarterfinals of the SWC playoffs, will host No. 17 Hyde Leadership (11-9) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The winner of Tuesday's contest will take on either top seed Enfield (20-0) or No. 32 Rocky Hill (8-12) in the second round on Friday.

Last season, the Trojans missed postseason play with a 6-14 record. In 2010, Weston went 11-9 and lost to Law in the first round.

The Staples-Weston-Shelton boys hockey team plays at No. 7 seed Branford on Tuesday in the first round of the Division II state tournament. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Northford Pavilion.
The 10th-seedeed Wreckers (9-11) qualified for the state tournament by winning their final three regular-season games.
The winner of Tuesday's contest faces No. 2 seed Hand (12-6-2) in the quarterfinals on Friday. Hand received a bye in the first round.
