Weston Boys Clinch SWC Playoff Spot
Trojans improve to 11-8 following their third straight victory

Evan Blitzer scored 14 points Friday as the Weston boys basketball team defeated Newtown 60-45 to clinch a berth in the South-West Conference playoffs.
Max Molinsky added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Trojans, who improved 11-8 and 7-6. Weston began the day seventh in the SWC standings and the top eight teams make the playoffs.
Lyle Mitchell added 12 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks for the Trojans, who opened a 16-9 lead following the first quarter, then extended its advantage to 34-10 at the half after allowing just one points in the second period.

Newtown (8-11, 5-8) made the final a bit more respectable by outscoring Weston 21-9 in the fourth quarter.
Connor Quinn scored 16 points to lead the Nighthawks, who dropped to 8-11 and 5-8.

Weston, which has won three in a row, concludes the regular season on Tuesday at Bunnell.
