Koyner tells Patch why she should be re-elected to the Board of Education

WESTON, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Weston and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Weston Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Hillary Koyner is running for re-election to the Board of Education as a Republican. She is the current chairperson on the Board of Assessment Appeals, and its current chairperson.

Koyner received a BA from Brandeis University, and a MPH from Yale University, and has previously worked in the health care consulting industry and managed corporate health plans. She also serves as an Advocacy Ambassador in the Autism Speaks organization

Koyner has three children, ages 15, 14, and 12, attending Weston Public Schools, and she has been active in school parent-teacher organizations and served on the Executive Board of the Middle School PTO.

If re-elected to the BOE, Koyner promises to:

• Further Weston’s commitment to excellence in education for all students while managing the financial realities our town is facing by working collaboratively with the Board of Finance and the town and school administration to develop prudent school budgets;
• Address infrastructure needs based on current and future town demographics;
• Come to a consensus with other Board members on school start times;
• Make the town more accommodating for working parents by offering more before and after school options;
• Strengthen the talent pool to make the school experience successful for all learners;
• Support a safe learning environment for all students.
