Weston Firefighters Tackle Fuel Spill After Truck Crash (VIDEO)

The driver of the diesel tanker was taken to the hospital.

WESTON, CT — A truck carrying a 50-gallon tank of diesel crashed on Friday morning, causing a fuel spill.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Newtown Turnpike near Dillon Pass. The Weston Volunteer Fire Department and Weston Emergency Medical Services were the first responders, and called upon the State Department of Energy & Environmental Conservation to manage the spill.

Once the spill was offloaded by a private contractor, the truck was removed from the scene by Modzelewski's Recovery & Heavy Hauling (see below, from the Weston Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page).
