Weston Hires A New Town Administrator

Karl Kilduff, currently the town manager of Clinton, has been tapped to be town administrator in Weston, effective Feb. 21, 2024.

December 21, 2023-- Samantha Nestor, First Selectwoman and the Board of Selectmen are excited to announce that they have come to an agreement with a candidate to serve as Weston’s next Town Administrator.

The Town Administrator is a key role in Weston, managing more than 70 employees across 12 departments. The Town Administrator works closely with and reports to the First Selectwoman, in accordance with the Town Charter.

The Town used the executive search firm of Randi Frank Consulting, LLC to conduct a national search. More than 30 applicants applied and 11 candidates were presented as semi-finalists. The semi-finalists had extensive town and city management experiences in Connecticut and throughout the country. They completed a questionnaire and a recorded on-line interview. The Board of Selectman interviewed 4 candidates. After deliberation, the Board of Selectmen were unanimous in their choice of Karl Kilduff, who has accepted their offer this evening.

Karl Kilduff is currently the Town Manager of the Town of Clinton, CT where he served as the first Town Manager for three years. Before that he served as Executive Director of the CT Housing Finance Authority, Town Administrator in Darien, CT, Town Manager of North Branford, CT and City Manager of the City of Johnstown, PA. He has over 23 years of experience in Town Management and four years working at the State level in Connecticut.

Mr. Kilduff has a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Connecticut. He has been active with the CT Conference of Municipalities, CT Council of Small Towns, various regional agencies and active in the International City/County Managers Association and the CT Town and City Managers Association.

Mr. Kilduff brings expertise in the areas of municipal management, infrastructure management, grantsmanship, budgeting, labor relations and human resources. Mr. Kilduff said: “I am deeply honored by the trust and support that the Board of Selectmen have placed in me to serve as the next Town Administrator. Karl Kilduff will start his new position as Town Administrator with the Town of Weston on February 21, 2024, after providing his 60 days’ notice to the Town of Clinton. In the meantime, stay tuned for an announcement to formally welcome Karl into the community.
