Weston Named One of the Safest Cities in America

The ranking is based off of FBI crime statistics and local police, public health and educational information.

Safewise, a community-focused security organization, created a list of the 100 safest cities in the country using the most recent FBI crime data from 2013.

The data was used to analyze and rank these cities, which all have a minimum population of 10,000 people.

Out of the 100 safest cities in the country, Weston was ranked number 10.

Here’s why Weston made the list, according to Safewise:

“An affluent community in Southern Connecticut, Weston puts its money where its mouth is. The city employs technologically-advanced policing features, such as computer forensics and a communication center that can reach thousands of residents in mere seconds during emergencies.”

With a population of 10,402, Weston received these rankings based on violent crimes and property crimes per 1,000 people.

Here’s how the City stacked up:

  • Violent Crimes per 1,000: 0.09
  • Property Crimes per 1,000: 3.55

According to the list, the safest town in America is Hibbing, Minnesota.

Ridgefield, New Canaan, Darien, Wilton and Madison are other Connecticut towns that made it on the list.
