Weston PD Warns of Snow and Ice Flying Off Cars

Clear off the roof of your car: It's the law!

(David Allen/Patch Media)

WESTON, CT — The Weston Police Department is warning residents to clear the accumulated snow from their vehicles or risk a fine — or worse.

The PD took to Facebook to advise about law C.G.S. 14-252a which mandates motorists remove accumulated snow and ice from their vehicles, "including your roof, hood and trunk so the motor vehicle is not a threat to persons or property while operated on any street or highway."

The fine is $120, unless the snow or ice causes someone injury or property is damaged, in which case it is in an arrest, the police wrote.
