Weston, Redding & Easton Coronavirus Updates: 49 Confirmed Cases

Here are the latest, local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Easton, Redding and Weston

WESTON/REDDING/EASTON, CT —The state Department of Public Health has confirmed there are 29 cases of the new coronavirus in Weston, 16 in Redding, and four in Easton, as of Monday afternoon.

Gov. Ned Lamont said Tuesday afternoon that another 557 residents have tested positive for the virus statewide, bringing the total to 3,128. Sixty-nine people have died, 16 more in the past 24 hours, and 608 have been hospitalized. The state tally includes an additional 17 fatalities previously unreported, which brings the total number of deaths in Connecticut to 69. He said state officials just learned of the 17 new deaths and announced them Tuesday. On Monday, 36 deaths were reported across the state.

As of Monday, Weston has closed down the Weston Public School complex to all nonessential activities. All fields, courts, the track, playgrounds and all parking lots are closed to the general public until further notice. All essential employees of the Weston Public Schools and Town of Weston are exempt from this mandate and are permitted access as required, according to a notification on the Town website by Sgt. Joe Miceli of the Weston Police Department.
