Weston's Plummer Predicted to Pick-up Oscar

Legendary actor predicted to pick up Best Supporting Actor award for his role in "Beginners."

“Oscarologists” from the website “GoldDerby,” which tracks the awards races in TV and film, are predicting that legendary actor and Weston resident will pick up a Best Supporting Actor award for his role in “Beginners” at the upcoming 84th Academy Awards, to be held Sunday, February 26, 2012.

In the movie, which was released June 2011, Plummer plays a gay widower who comes out of the closet at age 75.

Plummer, 81, reportedly spoke at a , when the board was voting to designate Wampum Hill Road, which skirts along the Weston-Wilton town line, with “scenic road” status.

Plummer won his first Oscar nomination in 2009 for "The Last Station." With an staggering array of film (as well as television and theater) performances over his long career, fans have been waiting for Plummer to bring home an Oscar for decades.

Oscar nominations will be annnounced Jan. 24, 2012.
