Weston Swimming Earns Top Finishes at CT Age Group Championships

Talent runs deep in the small, but mighty team of Weston Swimming, and the team made that clear at Connecticut Age Group Championship at Wesleyan University. Weston’s swimmers racked up an impressive 18 individual Top 10 finishes along with 6 relays that earned Top 10 spots.

The stand out event was the 200m Medley Relay of Alexa Pappas, Nicole Linnel, Katie Franco and Ally Bradley. These swimmers swam a record-breaking time a time of 2:05.31. Weston Swimming beat the previous record of 2:06.15 held by Swim 70.

"When these four young ladies starting training together as 10 and unders we knew we had something special in the making," claimed Head Age Group Coach John Scaldini. " Watching them set the state record this weekend awesome because it was years of their hard work paying off. It was truly special.” Head Coach Ryan Loechner agrees, "Each of the girls swam so well individually, but I love to see when our swimmers find a common goal and work together to achieve it. When they reflect back on this meet as adults, I guarantee that this will be the stand out moment for all of them."

But the pride doesn’t end there as the Coach Loechner continued to praise the entire team, “Each and every swimmer made improvements in time, technique or both this meet. The stamina required for this four-day long meet takes a toll on our athletes, but they rose to the challenge.”
