Weston Trojan Youth Football and Cheer Announces March Clinics

WTYFC hosts youth football clinics for grades K-8 March 13, 2016 and March 20, 2016

NEWS RELEASE

Winter Football Clinics for Flag and Tackle Football
WESTON, CT, February 21, 2016- Weston Trojan Youth Football and Cheer (“WTYFC”) announced grade-based skills and drills clinics on two Sundays in March for children in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Clinic instruction is by Weston High School Football Head Coach Chris Pace, and his coaching staff, with assistance from WHS Trojan football players. Clinics are March 13 and March 20 at WMS, and times are based on age group. Families should visit www.trojansfootball.org for a full schedule and to register.

“WTYFC is fortunate to partner with Coach Pace, his coaching staff and the HS players. The March clinics provide a great way to introduce new players to proper technique and refresh fundamentals for returning players. The March clinics provide a safe and fun environment to learn new skills and build team comradery,” comments WTYFC President, Henry Moniz.

WTYFC’s Flag Program Directors Doug Barshop and Dave Kopis added, “WTYFC has developed a successful flag football program that continues to grow. The spring clinics have played a large part in that success and growth. The kids have a lot of fun learning the fundamentals of the game while at the same time working on the development of core athletic skills. Being situated in between winter and spring seasons gives the kids an opportunity to get out on Sunday afternoon and play football with their friends”.

“For the boys who played last Fall, the March clinics are an excellent opportunity to refine and refresh the techniques and skills from the previous season,” added Michael Nevitt, WTYFC Tackle Commissioner. “Also, the clinics are an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in trying football for the first time to get a taste of what the teams will be doing in the Fall.”

All of the March clinics are non-contact. The clinic for grades Kindergarten -4th Grade is for Flag Football skills and drills. The 4th-8th Grade Skills & Drills clinic is for older youth athletes moving beyond Flag, learning and fine-tuning more advanced basic skills with introductions to offense and defense systems used by the HS program. Current 4th grade students may register for either the Flag clinic or the Football clinic or both! The overall objective is for the children to have fun with teammates and bonding as a team. Registration is requested at www.trojansfootball.org.
