Weston's Back Yard Beekeepers Association Offers Online Bee School

The Back Yard Beekeepers Association will be holding an online session of its annual Bee School on four Saturday mornings in February

WESTON, CT — The Back Yard Beekeepers Association will be holding an online session of its annual Bee School on four Saturday mornings in February and March.

The online sessions are intended for new or aspiring beekeepers who were not able to attend the in-person BYBA Bee School that was held in January. Participants in the January 2023 Bee School are eligible to participate again at no cost.

Participants will view the recorded sessions of January's 2023 Bee School with a live presenter available online for questions and comments. Each session will be approximately two hours. The fee for participation is $60 which includes Back Yard Beekeepers Association membership. For participants who are already members, the fee is $30.

The online Bee School classes will be held 9-11 a.m. on Feb. 25, Mar. 4, Mar. 11 and Mar. 18.

"Bee School is a fine way to either get a solid introduction into beekeeping or to fill in some gaps in what you know already that will strengthen your beekeeping skills," according to organizers. "We will cover safety issues, types of equipment, evolving roles of the worker bee, honeybee pests and diseases and more."

Bee School registration is online here. Call-in numbers will be provided to participants following sign-up.
