WESTON'S VACCARO NAMED ONE OF THE TOP 100 INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL ADVISORS IN AMERICA

Westport Resources (www.westportresources.com), a leading independent investment and financial planning firm serving individuals, families, municipalities and institutions around the world, is pleased to announce that its founder and CEO, John Adams Vaccaro, CFP®, CLU®, has been named – for the fifth consecutive year – one of Barron’s “Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors” in America for 2013. Barron’s, published by Dow Jones & Company, is a top weekly financial newspaper in the U.S. It reported the rankings in its August 24, 2013 issue. Mr. Vaccaro is one of the two Connecticut-based financial advisors on the list.

“Westport Resources is very honored,” Vaccaro said. “This ranking is a testament to the hard work, commitment and excellence put forth by our fantastic team of professionals.”

Barron’s top 100 independents are ranked in part on the assets under management by each financial advisor's team. The publication also considers revenue generated by the team and the overall quality of the practice. Barron’s explains: “Investment performance is not an explicit criterion, because the clients of the advisors have widely differing goals. Since many are quite wealthy ... the goal is often asset preservation. In fact, investing to meet goals, rather than to beat benchmarks, is a growing trend.”

Barron’s also reported that the top 100 independents grew the assets they handle by an average of 16 percent in the 12 months through June 30, up from the 12 percent annual pace posted for those on its 2012 list. Additionally, as they are typically backed by sizeable teams of financial-service professionals, these top advisors increased average assets under management to $3.6 billion in 2013, up from $3.1 billion one year ago.
