May 30, the Westport Woman’s Club presented the $5,000 Ruegg Grant Award to the Westport Astronomical Society. The grant is being used to help finance a new solar telescope with a solar stack and mount. The Society is hoping to have the telescope in place this summer in time to view the solar eclipse on August 21. The Westport Astronomical Society is located at the Rolnick Observatory on Bayberry Avenue and open on Wednesday evenings from 8-10:00, weather permitting.
