Key to Success: In addition to hitting the courts four times per week, Satanovsky, who was introduced to the sport at the age of four, said his tournament schedule is carefully crafted by his father, Dmitry, allowing him to focus on his practices.
“I just go to the tournaments that I’m signed up for and don’t really think about it beyond that, which is helpful for me,” said Satanovsky. “My dad comes to all of my tournaments and knows what my weak points are, so he usually has advice for me after the matches as well.”
Best Tennis Memory: Last summer, the 12-and-under team that he is part of at Four Seasons Racquet Club in Wilton won the Junior Team Tennis Connecticut Championship in Cheshire.
What’s Next: In addition to preparing for a series of regional tournaments over the next several months, Michael said he is also working on a number of areas off-court to help raise his game to the next level.
“I’m a little bit slow, so I have to increase my foot speed and have been doing lots of fitness exercises to help with that part of my game,” said Satanovsky.
Other Interests: When he’s not practicing, Michael enjoys playing video games, spending time with his family and watching pro tennis matches on TV, especially those of his favorite player, Roger Federer.
