“I’m really happy I’m on the team,” Bonis said about the opportunity to pitch at the varsity level while also improving her game and depending on her teammates for overall team success.

The Falcons have great team chemistry and camaderie as half of the team plays together on the Ridgefield Rebels travel softball team over the summer.

Bonis also practices with an outside coach to improve and keep her pitch in tune throughout the winter.

Her repitiore includes the screwball, drop, rise, fastball and changeup. She is planning to work on her curve during the summer while also playing on the Rebels.

Barlow, which improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the SWC, has begun the stronger part of their schedule and faces a tough Pomperaug team on the road Wednesday in another key SWC matchup as the Falcons eye a return trip to the SWC playoffs after a lengthy absence.

Bonis hopes to keep playing the sport she has been a part of since the third grade.

“I hope to keep going,” the very hard working, dedicated, and enthusiastic athlete said although playing at the next level is uncertain.

“She comes to practice,” Fallo said of the coachable individual.

No matter what the situation maybe, Bonis is one true example of a player that possesses all attributes of a tremendous character and all-around great person.

“She’s always smiling,” Fallo said. One can guarantee that only a short time goes by for a smile to be on Bonis’ face when one has not been present.

Bonis’s smile is also contagious. “She cheers other people up,” Falcon assistant softball coach Erika Profenno said of her ability to make other teammates happy and the overall team more effective.

“She’s a great kid,” she said of the athlete who she is also proud to coach during field hockey season in the fall.
