Wilton Library features area artists beginning Nov. 17
Weston and Redding artists featured in library exhibit
Wilton Library’s November/December art exhibition celebrates “Unhung Heroes,” opening on Friday, Nov. 17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The exhibition showcases twenty area artists who have either never exhibited at the library before or have not been featured in the recent past. The artists work in a variety of media including watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, mixed media, drawings, photography and sculpture. The reception is free and open to the public.
The group includes artists from as close as Wilton to as far away as Bayside, NY. The artists are Julianne Ashkinaze, Yorktown Heights, NY; Dot Bergen, Wilton; Terri Cuddy, Peekskill, NY; Lorraine Gelard, Norwalk; Frances Goulart, Ridgefield; Ginger Jespersen, Weston; Niki Key, Wilton; Judith Lambertson, Norwalk; Paola Lazzaro, Redding; Emily Lopatin, Stamford; Lawrence Lazar, Westport; Kazumasa Oda, Bridgeport; Joan Ogren, Wilton; Lukiana Pilyugin, Redding; Maryann Piotrowski, New Canaan; Artemis Romell, Southbury; Cristina Sarno, Norwalk; Helaine Soller, Bayside, NY; Rose Stock, Yorktown Heights, NY; and Al Coyote Weiner, Fairfield.
Ed MacEwen, Wilton Library’s art chairman noted, “The library gallery has become so well known as a wonderful exhibition space, that we have people from around the area wishing to show their works here. This exhibit gives them a chance to showcase their talents.” Close to 60 works encompass an array of styles and subject matter such as figures, portraits, still life, abstracts, botanicals, landscapes and more.

The majority of the pieces are available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. The exhibition runs through Thursday, Dec. 28, perfect timing for holiday gift-giving. The exhibition is open during regular library hours which are Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays, 10 to 6, Saturdays, 10 to 5 and Sundays, 1 to 5. The library will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Wilton Library is located at 137 Old Ridgefield Road in the heart of Wilton Center.
