The Historical Society of Easton invites you to join them on Sunday, October 19 for the beginning of their Fall Lecture Series.

From the Easton Historical Society:

The Historical Society of Easton invites you to join us on Sunday, October 19th for the beginning of our Fall Lecture Series. Our first lecture will be an exploration of the witchcraft trials which occurred in colonial Connecticut. Our guide will be author Richard G. Tomlinson, co-founder and director of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists, who will share stories from his research and recent book Witchcraft Prosecution: Chasing the Devil in Connecticut. His work is a definitive history of the witchcraft prosecutions in the 17th and 18th Century.

His talk will highlight the three major trials in Connecticut’s history: the Hartford Witch Panic of 1662-63; the landmark prosecution of Katherine Harrison of Wethersfield and the trial of Mercy Disbrow, the last woman convicted of witchcraft in Connecticut, a case that was a contemporary of the witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts. The lecture will be held on Sunday, October 19th at 2 PM at the Easton Public Library’s Community Room located at 691 Morehouse Road, Easton, CT.

The lecture is free but donations to the Historical Society of Easton are always welcome to sustain it as a vital organization within the Easton community. Mr. Tomlinson’s book will be available for sale after his talk.
