REDDING, CT — Budget workshops begin this week, with their focus upon the proposed Region 9 school 2019-20 spending plan.

The $24.2 million school budget proposed by Superintendent Thomas McMorran is about $35,000 less than the current plan, although Redding residents will still pay more due to the projected increase in Redding student enrollment.

The big ticket items, in the proposed budget as in the current plan, are general education ($8.49 million) and special education ($4.85 million). Operations ($3.94 million), debt service ($2.26 million) academics ($1.4 million) and athletics ($1.16 million) follow.
