The Friday evening fire was on Bridge Street, according to fire officials.

WESTPORT, CT — One person was injured in a Friday evening kitchen fire in an apartment on Bridge Street in Westport, according to Westport Assistant Chief Brian Meadows.

The 6:30 p.m. resulted in the evacuation of the Saugatuck apartments, though no other injuries were reported.

Firefighters were able to douse the initial visible fire on the stove with a water can, but "crews reported that fire had extended into the cabinets and walls," which required additional work to extinguish.
