The distinction goes to students whose grade point averages rank in the top 4 percent of the class.

WESTPORT, CT — Staples High School has recognized 19 students in the graduating class of 2026 with High Honors, a distinction awarded to students whose academic grade point averages place them in the top 4 percent of the class.
According to the school, the honor carries a High Honors seal for qualifying students. Principal Stafford W. Thomas Jr. said the recognition reflects not only academic performance but also broad involvement in school life.
“This class is extremely talented, and the most astonishing aspect of this accomplishment is that these students were involved in a number of extracurriculars and various aspects of school life," Thomas said in a statement. "These activities took a great deal of time, focus and concentration outside of the classroom as well. We were lucky to have had them for four years, and we will no doubt be hearing about their next great achievements in the years to come. Congratulations Class of 2026 High Honors students!"
