2 Accused In Westport Counterfeit Currency Scheme: Police
The suspects were arrested in connection with a March 2 incident.
WESTPORT, CT — A pair of New York City residents were arrested on warrants last week charging them in connection with a scheme to pass counterfeit currency at two unnamed Westport retail stores last spring, according Westport police.
Dayvon Jordan, 25, and Destiny Poole, 20, were apprehended by the Stamford Office of Adult Probation on Sept. 27, two of four suspects in connection with a March 2 incident after a vehicle was stopped by Fairfield police on the Post Road in Westport.
"This vehicle had been stopped by a Fairfield officer in connection with a be-on-the-lookout broadcast which sought it in reference to an investigation into the passing of counterfeit bills in their town," wrote Westport police in a statement. "Upon stopping the vehicle, suspected counterfeit currency was located within it along with three merchandise bags from two Westport businesses. This led officers to believe that the suspects had also potentially passed counterfeit currency within the town of Westport on that same date."

Jordan, Poole and the other suspects were arrested by Fairfield police at that time, and Westport police opened an investigation into the possible Westport incidents.
"Of the two Westport stores identified as possibly having been visited by the suspects, one of the two was able to recover a counterfeit $100.00 bill among the cash receipts from the date on which the suspects were arrested," said Westport police. "A review of video surveillance confirmed that one of the males arrested by the Fairfield Police Department was the same suspect that had entered the store, selected the merchandise and made the purchase using the counterfeit currency."
