2 Injured, Extrication Needed In Rollover Crash In Westport: FD

The two-vehicle crash occurred Monday morning.

WESTPORT, CT — Two people were injured, and one had to be extricated from their vehicle using the "jaws of life," in a two-vehicle, rollover crash in Westport Monday morning at the intersection of Cross Highway and Bayberry Lane, according to Assistant Westport Fire Chief Jeff Gootman.

The crash occurred about about 8:20 a.m., and no other injuries were reported.

"The fire department stabilized the car and utilized hydraulic rescue tools ('jaws of life') to gain access to the trapped patient," Gootman said in a statement. "American Medical Response (AMR) responded with two ambulances to the scene. Two patients were transported to Saint Vincent’s Hospital by AMR."

Additional details about the crash investigation, and whether either of the drivers could face charges, was not available. The fire department responded to the crash with an Engine, a Rescue truck, and the Shift Commander, Gootman said.
