Victims Identified In Gruesome Connecticut Crash: UPDATE

Police said the driver and a passenger were killed and a juvenile was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the gruesome crash.

WINCHESTER, CT – Police said two people were killed and three others were injured in a crash that occurred late Monday night on Route 8 in Winchester, according to media reports. Police said the crash happened at the intersection of Route 20 around 11:55 p.m.

According to NBC Connecticut, police said the driver of a 2000 Honda Civic was traveling southbound when she lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center lines, drove off the road and struck a tree.

Police have identified the driver as Kayla Lombardo, 19, of Winsted, and the front seat passenger was identified as Ryan Cote, 26, of Winsted man, NBC Connecticut reported. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

According to Eyewitness News 3, police said three other people in the vehicle were injured, including a juvenile who was ejected from the vehicle and suffered severe injuries. Abigail Passini, 18, of Winsted was also severely injured, and Tyler Godfrey, 22, of Winsted sustained minor injuries, police said.

Route 8 was closed following the incident but has since reopened, Eyewitness News 3 reported. State police are investigating the crash.
