2 Pedestrians Critically Injured In Westport Crash: Police
The crash occurred Wednesday evening on Imperial Avenue, according to authorities.

WESTPORT, CT — Two people were hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday evening, after they were struck by a vehicle on Imperial Avenue near the Post Road East in Westport, according to police.
The crash occurred at about 6:45 p.m., and the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, said Westport Police Deputy Chief David Farrell in a statement.
"Preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle was traveling north on Imperial Avenue when it veered off the road and struck the pedestrians on the sidewalk," Farrell said.

Westport police, fire and emergency medical personnel provided immediate care to the pedestrians, before the two were transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment.
Information on the injured pedestrians and the driver were not disclosed.

Traffic through the area was temporarily redirected Wednesday night while police investigated the crash.
"The Westport Police Accident Investigation Team is partnering with the Fairfield Police Accident Investigation Team," Farrell said. "They are conducting a thorough examination of the scene and collecting evidence to determine the cause of the crash."
