3 Challenged Books Will Remain In Staples HS Library: Report

A Westport parent who challenged the three titles has reportedly withdrawn her objection.

WESTPORT, CT — Three challenged books will remain in the Staples High School library, after the parent who objected to them withdrew her appeal, reported the Connecticut Post.

The three titles — "This Book is Gay" by Juno Dawson, "Gender Queer" by Maia Kobabe, and "Flamer" by Mike Curato — reportedly were challenged primarily due to depictions of sex and some graphic imagery.

After the Superintendent's Review Committee voted not to remove the books from the library, the parent who requested their removal appealed the decision, but last week she reportedly withdrew it.
