3 Westport Firefighters Injured Battling Barn Blaze: Fire Officials

The early morning fire was reported Monday.

WESTPORT, CT — Three Westport firefighters suffered minor injuries early Monday while battling a barn fire on Old Hill Road in Westport, according to officials.

All the occupants of the structure had gotten out before the arrival of firefighters, who encountered visible fire when they got to the scene.

"One wing of the barn was heavily involved with fire," said Westport Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows in a statement. "Three attack hose lines were deployed and operated to extinguish the fire and keep it from spreading to the other sections of the structure."

The building's three displaced occupants are receiving assistance from Westport Human Services and the American Red Cross.

Firefighters from Norwalk and Fairfield assisted in fighting the fire, and helped with temporary coverage at Westport Fire Headquarters.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Westport Fire Marshal’s Office.
