300 Westport Aquarion Customers without Water Thursday

A contractor damaged a pipe near a culvert, which required a temporary shutdown of the service, according to a company spokesperson.

WESTPORT, CT - Approximately 300 Aquarion customers in the Clinton Avenue area of Westport were without water Thursday afternoon, after a contractor damaged a pipe near a culvert, Company spokesperson Peter Fazekas told Patch.

The situation required a temporary shutdown of the service in the area.

Water service could be returned to the majority of the customers as early as 3 p.m., but that it could take longer for about a dozen or so who live near where the pipe was damaged.

Aquarion crews are on-site and have begun repairs to the pipe, which Fazekas said could take several hours to complete.
