4 Hospitalized After Serious Accident On I-95 In Westport

BREAKING: The accident occurred Sunday morning and one person was trapped inside the vehicle.

WESTPORT, CT — Four people were hospitalized after a serious motor vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in Westport, the Fire Department said.

This morning, the Westport Fire Department responded at 6:01 a.m. to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 95. The first arriving fire engine reported the accident was northbound just north of Exit 18.

"Firefighters found a single car accident with the vehicle down an embankment and one occupant trapped in the car. Firefighters extricated the occupant from the vehicle. The occupant was brought up the embankment utilizing a rope system to lift the occupant up the embankment. All four of the occupants that were in the car at the time of the accident were transported to a local hospital," the Fire Department said.

The Fairfield Fire Department, Westport EMS, AMR and Norwalk Hospital EMS assisted on the scene. The accident is under investigation by the Connecticut State Police.
