$50,000 Winning Powerball Lottery Ticket Sold In Westport

The lucky winner has not been identified, according to the Connecticut Lottery.

WESTPORT, CT — A $50,000 winning Powerball lottery ticket was sold in Westport this week, the Connecticut Lottery announced.

The lucky winner has been identified, but lottery officials said the ticket was sold at the Cumberland Farms at 690 Post Road East.

"Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown," officials said.

Powerball is a multi-state game played by choosing five "white ball" numbers, and one "red ball" number, or the Powerball. A ticket costs $2, not including "Power Play" multipliers which add $1 or more to the wager.

To win $50,000, a player must match four white ball numbers and the Powerball. The odds of doing that are 1 in 913,129, according to the CT Lottery.
