WESTPORT, CT — A public hearing is scheduled to be live-streamed on Thursday on an amendment to Westport's zoning regulations that would allow homes to include Accessory Dwelling Units, announced Deputy Planning and Zoning Director Michelle Perillie.

The modifications to the regulations also would allow for Accessory Apartments and Other Accessory Uses and Buildings. Click here to read the text of the amendment; an additional explanation of the proposed amendment can be found by clicking here.

"Permitting Accessory Dwelling Units in Westport will allow for greater flexibility in housing options for our residents," Perillie said in a statement. "They have the potential to increase housing affordability, create diversity in housing options within the community and the potential to enable seniors to stay near family as they age."
