WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Library’s Big Spring Book Sale is scheduled for May 15 through May 18, on the library’s main level at 20 Jesup Road. The four-day sale will include thousands of gently used books for toddlers through adults, along with DVDs, CDs, vintage vinyl, ephemera and framed artwork.
According to organizers, the event will span more than 50 nonfiction and fiction categories, including noteworthy titles, antiquarian books and vintage children’s books. Organizers also highlighted several featured collections for this year’s sale, including vintage travel and exploration books covering Ireland, England, Africa and other places, plus books about the environment, earth science, ecology, climate change, ballet, opera and opera singers. Comic books, jigsaw puzzles and a range of framed artworks will also be available.
Free public admission begins Friday at noon and continues through the rest of the sale. Hours are set for noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. On Sunday, almost everything will be half-price, according to organizers.
Before general admission opens Friday, the sale will be open from 8:45 a.m. to noon only to patrons who buy an Early Access ticket in advance. The tickets are available online through Eventbrite at https://WestportSpring2026BookSale.eventbrite.com.
Monday will be “Bag Day,” when shoppers can fill a logo bag for $10 per bag, use their own equivalent-sized bag for $8, or buy individual books at half-price, according to organizers. Also of note, a conference room will be filled with hardcover fiction, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, young adult fiction and paperback novels priced at $1 each. Those books will remain $1 each on Sunday’s half-price day.
A Featured Specials list will be posted on the sale website at www.westportbooksaleventures.org/our-events and updated periodically in the weeks before the event. People interested in volunteering can email volunteers@westportbooksales.org.
For people who cannot attend the sale, organizers pointed to the nonprofit Westport Book Shop at 23 Jesup Road, across Jesup Green from the library, and the group’s eBay store at ebay.com/str/westportbooksalesct.
