Woman Charged After Using Stroller In Theft At Westport Ulta Beauty Store: Police

WESTPORT, CT — A 30-year-old Danbury woman faces felony charges after Westport police said she was identified in a March shoplifting incident at the Ulta Beauty store on Post Road East, where more than $3,000 in merchandise was reported stolen.

Alaejah Cintron turned herself in at Westport Police Headquarters on Monday on an active warrant and was arrested on charges of third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, and risk of injury to a child.

Westport police said store staff reported on March 13 that a shoplifting had happened the previous day. According to authorities, a man and a woman entered the store together with a young juvenile and an infant in a stroller.

"While inside the store the female was observed taking items from the shelves and hiding them in the stroller," Lt. Anthony Prezioso wrote in a statement. "The male was seen taking items from the shelves and putting them in his pockets. These individuals then processed a merchandise return, and the female provided her membership/loyalty card during this
transaction. No merchandise was paid for."

The suspects left the store having stolen $3,157 worth of merchandise, according to Prezioso.

Several days later, officers responded to a suspicious persons/suspicious vehicle complaint at the same Ulta Beauty location, police said. The two people connected to that complaint were identified, including Alaejah Cintron. According to police, both confessed to being involved in a previous theft from the store, which police said was believed to be the March 13 incident. Arrest warrants were then sought and granted for both people, according to police.

The second suspect remains at-large; police have an active warrant for that person, and the investigation remains active, Prezioso said.

Cintron was initially held in lieu of bail of $60,000, but that amount was reduced to a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 22.
