WESTPORT, CT — The 2026 Bloomin' Metric, a popular bicycle tour hosted by Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club, is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, beginning and ending at Sherwood Island State Park.
Parking for the event opens at 6:30 a.m. and check in/registration starts at 7 a.m. Helmets are required.
"Bloomin' Metric® is a bike touring event – not a race! – for every type of rider, novice to advanced," the website states. "We offer four routes (15, 25, 47 and 62 miles) that travel along quiet roads and stunning beaches of Long Island Sound and through classic New England countryside in Connecticut."
The Westport Police Department has issued a traffic advisory for the event, which will traverse through Westport between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, rain or shine.
"Residents and visitors should expect an increased number of cyclists on roads throughout town during this time," wrote Lt. Sereniti Dobson in a statement. "The Town of Westport advises all motorists to use caution, allow extra travel time, and remain alert when sharing the roadway with participants. Your cooperation will help ensure a safe and successful event for everyone involved."
