The suspect was caught in Fairfield, according to authorities.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport police said a motorcyclist was arrested last week after allegedly fleeing officers during a traffic stop attempt, and later being stopped at Sasco Beach in Fairfield.

Trumbull resident Brandon Bivona was charged with failure to display plates, reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, failure to drive right, improper passing, and interfering with an officer.

Westport police said an officer on routine patrol near Post Road East and Main Street at about 12:55 p.m. on May 19 observed a motorcycle commit several traffic violations, including cutting in front of the officer’s vehicle and passing another vehicle in a no-passing area.

The officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, but the operator accelerated eastbound and drove between vehicles traveling in both lanes. Police said the motorcycle did not display a registration plate.

The officers did not continue the pursuit, but provided a description of the motorcycle and operator over the radio, police said.

"What was believed to be the operator and his motorcycle were subsequently observed at Sasco Beach in Fairfield by a Westport detective," Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso wrote in a statement. "When the detective attempted to identify himself and ordered the operator to stop, he again attempted to flee but could not navigate the sand and dropped
the motorcycle. The operator was identified as Brandon Bivona. He was taken into custody. The proper registration plate for the motorcycle was located within its rear seat compartment."

Bivona was released after posting bond on bail of $6,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 2.
