First Folk Sunday is Back! Westport's most popular Sunday afternoon music series at the Saugatuck Rowing Club is ready to welcome you to all 6 shows for Season 4. Starting on July 5, The Hot Club of Black Rock plays hot swing, or Gypsy jazz - the music of Django Reinhardt. This is their first appearance at First Folk Sunday and you won't have far to travel to feel like you are in Paris in the 1920's.
Cheryl Wheeler is one of America's finest and most prolific folk singer/songwriters. Due to personal issues, Cheryl is currently unable to perform in live venues. In her absence, Suzanne Sheridan, who opened for Cheryl at Voices Cafe a few years back, will be embracing Cheryl's unique voice by performing her music as only she can. Suzanne will be on guitar, Bob Cooper on keyboards, and Howard Kesten on percussion. This concert takes place on August 2.
On September 6, Suzanne will be joined by Matt Lavigni as they share the stage together to bring you the TWO JOHNS - Denver and Prine.
October 4 will mark the return of Westport's now-famous folk artist, Lisa Bastoni, who two years ago made her First Folk Sunday debut and as the saying goes, "she brought down the house." Given the demand for her to return, she will and she and Suzanne will be doing a few songs together.
November 1 Suzanne will take the stage along with Bob Cooper to bring you the music of Paul Simon. The audience is invited to sing along as most of the songs will be very familiar.
For the final show of Season 4, Suzanne will be performing songs from the Great American Songbook. If you have any favorites in that genre, send us an email and we, as Perry Como used to do, will try to fill your request.
Tickets are available on the First Folk Sunday Website at https://firstfolksunday.com. The phone number is 203-984-7562 and the email address is info @firstfolksunday.com. All shows are at Saugatuck Rowing Club at 521 Riverside in Westport.
