WESTPORT, CT — The large pavilion at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport is closed and will remain closed for the 2026 season as it undergoes structural repairs, News 12 Connecticut reported.
Pieces of concrete were reportedly seen falling from the building's ceiling, and after an inspection, officials from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection discovered that extensive structural repairs were needed.
Estimated costs for the repairs to the building, which is more than 60 year old, could reach $1.5 million.
A second, smaller pavilion at the site reportedly will remain open.
