WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Representative Town Meeting is seeking candidates to fill the District 7 vacancy created by the recent passing of Jack Klinge, officials announced.
Klinge, who lived in Westport for more than 50 years, died on June 9 at the age of 87, according to his obituary. He was on the RTM for 29 years, becoming its longest-serving member, 06880 reported.
The vacancy must be filled by a registered voter who lives in RTM District 7, in accordance with Section C5-8C of the Town Charter. The Westport RTM is nonpartisan, so no political party affiliation is required.
The candidate who is appointed to fill the vacancy will serve the remainder of the term, which expires on Nov. 16, 2027.
Residents of RTM District 7 who are interested in being considered for the appointment can submit a resume and a brief statement of interest on or before Monday, July 20, to Town Clerk Jeffrey Dunkerton at JDunkerton@westportct.gov.
