WESTPORT, CT — Just over 660 Eversource customers in Westport, or just over 5 percent, were without power Monday morning, with some of those having gone without electricity since Saturday night's storm, according to the utility company and Gov. Ned Lamont.
"[Saturday's] severe storms left thousands of homes in the region without power, and while utility crews immediately began working on restoration, they believe that repairs in certain areas may take several days due to the scale of damage across the area," Gov. Lamont said in a statement. "The utilities have called down additional crews from Canada to help restore power in Connecticut as soon as possible, and our administration will do anything in our ability that can help expedite power restoration."
As of Monday morning, more than 31,000 Eversource customers in Connecticut were without power, and more than 1,500 United Illuminating customers in the state — 700 in Fairfield and 800 in Bridgeport — were also without electricity.
Power restoration in Westport could take a day or more, according to Eversource.
In Westport, officials said on Saturday that wires were "down throughout town," and some roads were closed as a result. Most roads in Westport were open by Monday morning.
The risk of flash floods in parts of Fairfield County, and around the state, rose on Monday, as heavy rains continued to pound much of the region.
