WESTPORT, CT — Westport's beaches — Compo, Burying Hill, and Bisceglie Pond — and Sherwood Island State Park in Westport were closed on Wednesday due to elevated levels of bacteria in the water, according to state and local officials.

Closures are "determined by the most recent water quality test results during the peak summer season," state officials said. Testing is conducted weekly from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
