Westport Selectmen To Consider Emergency Management Authorization, Sewer Connection

WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Board of Selectmen is scheduled to consider an emergency management authorization, a supplemental sanitary sewer connection and a waiver involving a stone wall built within a town right-of-way when it meets Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The board, also convening as the Local Traffic Authority and Water Pollution Control Authority, will hold the public meeting at 9 a.m. in the Westport Town Hall Auditorium, 110 Myrtle Ave. The in-person meeting is also scheduled to be livestreamed on the town website and/or broadcast on Westport's Optimum Government Access Channel 79, subject to availability. Among the public safety items, the board is scheduled to consider a request from the fire chief for an authorizing resolution involving the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection's Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

The proposed resolution would authorize the town to enter into and deliver documents deemed necessary or appropriate to the state agency. It also would authorize First Selectman Kevin Christie to execute documents on the town's behalf and take actions needed to carry out their terms.

The board also is scheduled to revisit a request concerning a stone wall installed within the town right-of-way at 19 Center Street. The item, rescheduled from the board's July 22 meeting, calls for review and possible approval of a waiver of the town's Policy on Encroachments on Town Property.

Any approval would be contingent on compliance with recommendations and requirements from relevant town departments or commissions, as well as execution of an Encroachment Easement and Hold Harmless Agreement satisfactory to the Town Attorney's Office.

Acting as the Water Pollution Control Authority, the board is scheduled to consider a supplemental sanitary sewer connection for 4 Ridge Drive. Approval would be contingent on compliance with requirements outlined in a July 17 letter from the WPCA general manager.

Additionally, the board also may approve refunds for tax overpayments upon the recommendation of the tax collector and in accordance with state law. The agenda does not list the individual refunds or their total value.
