WESTPORT, CT — A 32-year-old Yonkers, New York man was arrested by Westport police last month in connection with the theft of more than $3,100 in merchandise from the Westport Ulta Beauty store in March, according to authorities.
Ulta Beauty employees at 1365 Post Road East reported the theft March 13, telling police it had occurred the previous day.
Police said a man and woman entered the store with a young child and an infant in a stroller. The woman was observed taking merchandise from shelves and concealing it in the stroller, while the man was seen placing merchandise in his pockets, according to police.
The two also processed a merchandise return, during which the woman provided a membership or loyalty card, police said. They left without paying for the merchandise in a vehicle observed and described by store employees, according to police.
The estimated loss was $3,157.
On March 24, officers responded to a report of suspicious people and a suspicious vehicle at the same Ulta Beauty location. Police identified two people associated with the complaint, including Charles Faulk.
Both admitted involvement in a previous theft from the store that police alleged was the March incident, according to police. Arrest warrants were obtained for both.
Police later learned Faulk was incarcerated at the Putnam County Correctional Facility in New York. Westport detectives went to the facility July 29 and took him into custody on the outstanding warrant.
Faulk was returned to Westport and charged with risk of injury to a child, third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, according to police.
He is being held in lieu of bail of $50,000, and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 17.
