WESTPORT, CT — Westport's Staples High School is the fifth-best in Connecticut, according to the U.S. News & World Report recently released 2026-27 Best High Schools rankings.
The publication evaluated thousands of public high schools throughout the country to determine its national and state rankings, looking at measures including college readiness, graduation rates and student achievement.
Staples High School, which ranked 270th nationally, received its highest marks in State Assessment Proficiency and College Readiness.

Additionally, the publication reviewed how well a school educates underserved students, and participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams, among other criteria.
The rankings use data from the 2023-2024 school year and were produced with research firm RTI International.
