Ohio Man Arrested On Stalking Charge In Westport: Police (patch.com) β Westport police arrested a 31-year-old Ohio man this week after he allegedly traveled cross-country to a local business tied to a relative of a stalking victim, despite an active restraining order. Officers say he has a history of stalking the relative and was taken into custody at the Westport business, with bail set at $250,000 and arraignment scheduled in Stamford Superior Court.

National Home Organization Company To Open Location In Westport: Report (patch.com) β Westport residents can expect a new Closet Factory showroom on Post Road East next month, bringing a national custom home organization brand directly into town. The franchise, owned by Westport couple Dan and Melanie Zuller, expands their existing operations in Darien and Bethel and fills a former Calico Corners space in the Suite Suites Center.

P&Z considers amendment allowing fenced dog areas in town parks (westportjournal.com) β Westport officials are weighing a zoning text change that could allow a fenced dog play area at Winslow Park, one of the town's most popular open spaces. After more than 40 residents debated the idea late into a Zoom meetingβmost opposing a fenceβthe Planning & Zoning Commission continued the public hearing to September for further input and possible revisions.

P&Z remains skeptical of Spinnaker's affordable housing math (westportjournal.com) β Westport's Planning & Zoning Commission is pressing Spinnaker Real Estate Partners over affordable housing in a proposed 165-unit Riverside Avenue development, saying the current 16 percent affordable share falls short of the town's 20 percent requirement. Commissioners like the project's design and location near I-95 and the train, but say they need full financial details before moving forward.

5. LobsterFest! (westportjournal.com) β Westport Rotary's 15th annual LobsterFest returns to Compo Beach on Sept. 19, promising lobster, steak, vegetarian options and unlimited drinks while raising about $400,000 for local charities. Tickets are on sale now, expected to sell out quickly, and volunteers are needed Sept. 18β20 for setup, event help, and cleanup.
