WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Board of Finance is scheduled to consider several requests involving school funds and town department carryovers when it meets Wednesday, Sept. 2.
The board is scheduled to consider a request from Superintendent of Schools Thomas Scarice to transfer unaudited, unspent 2025-26 Board of Education operating funds to the school board's carryover account. To view the agenda, click here; it does not specify the amount of the proposed transfer Scarice is seeking.
Additionally, the board is also scheduled to consider a separate request from the superintendent to appropriate money to the 2025-26 budget for the Board of Education's Rentals & Reimbursements Expenditure Account. The agenda does not list an amount for that request.
The school district's finances will also be the subject of a discussion-only item, with the Board of Education's chief financial officer scheduled to present the district's fourth-quarter fiscal year 2026 financial report.
As part of closing out fiscal year 2025-26, the board is scheduled to consider a request from the town finance director to process a list of transfers and incorporate them into the appropriation subsidiary ledger.
The finance director also is requesting approval to carry over a combined $53,706.56 for four town purposes. The requests include $26,000 in the Finance/Personnel salary adjustment account for staffing expenses; $15,206.56 for Westport Art Advisory sculpture rentals; $10,000 in Human Services for staffing expenses; and $2,500 for Conservation office furniture.
Other agenda items include a discussion-only financial report from the finance director and a discussion-only status update from the audit manager. The board is also scheduled to consider approving minutes from its June 3 regular meeting and June 17 and Aug. 3 special meetings.
The Board of Finance public meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the auditorium at Westport Town Hall.
