Route 57 In Westport To Be Repaved After Issue With Asphalt

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is scheduled to mill and repave a 1.34-mile stretch of Route 57 in Westport, officials said.

WESTPORT, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation will mill and resurface a 1.34-mile section of Route 57, also known as Weston Road, beginning Sunday, Sept. 27, weather permitting.

The work will extend from Easton Road, or Route 136, to 1,000 feet south of the Weston town line. If work begins Sunday, the project is expected to be completed in early October.

The section of Route 57 was resurfaced in June, but the top layer of asphalt will be replaced because of an issue with the paving material, according to CTDOT. The department said it will remove and replace the top layer to provide a durable road surface.

Milling is tentatively scheduled to begin the night of Sunday, Sept. 27, and continue for about three nights, ending the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The work is part of CTDOT's 2026 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 57 between Easton Road and the Weston town line. Traffic control personnel and signs will guide motorists through the work zone.

The schedule could change because of weather or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are asked to slow down, use caution and allow extra travel time while passing through the work zone.
