WESTPORT, CT — Westport police are investigating a series of suspected mail thefts after officers responded to multiple reports of discarded mail and opened packages in several neighborhoods on Tuesday.
According to authorities, investigators believe the mail was stolen from residential mailboxes during the overnight or early morning hours Tuesday.
Police said discarded mail and opened packages were recovered in neighborhoods on the south side of town, including areas near Hillspoint Road, Prospect Road, Greens Farms Road and Compo Beach.
Most of the recovered mail originated from those same neighborhoods, police said.
